John Macfie
solicitor for twenty-five years

My aim is to provide what I believe is now rare in the legal profession:
people-based, knowledgeable & cost-effective advice and practical help

For me, the practice of the law is about finding solutions for people, not necessarily answers to legal problems. What inspires me is to help people find their way through the complicated and often scary maze of problems, so they can have the best possible chance of moving on to a sustainable future.

I have been a solicitor for twenty-five years. During that time I have moved from being a high street general practitioner, through working in a niche private client firm, to spending the last decade in practices offering skills right across the legal spectrum. While there I specialised in all aspects of family law, as well as general and property litigation. While travelling this road I have been lucky to learn from expert colleagues and to reap the benefits of experience in hugely varied areas of law and life. Besides, as husband and parent I hope a little human understanding has crept in along with legal knowledge.

My aim is to provide what I believe is now rare in the legal profession: people-based, knowledgeable and cost-effective advice and practical help for those who need assistance with family or relationship breakdown, or who want advice on property law or other areas. I do this by being a small business, bringing to bear long and varied experience of life and law, being ultra-responsive to clients, and staying focussed on solutions, not problems.

I have fluent German and a working knowledge of French, so I can add value for those who are at home in those languages, or who are dealing with people there.
